The World’s Best Snowmobile Destination Official Launch of Snowmobile Friendliness Video Series

FEBRUARY 18, 2021
SUDBURY, ONTARIO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tourism Excellence North is excited to announce that a new online training program on snowmobile friendliness has officially been launched. To start the process of becoming a best-in-class snowmobile destination, interested operators and communities are encouraged to begin their online training by watching a series of entertaining and educational videos.

“A pilot snowmobile loop has been selected in Northeastern Ontario and online training modules for operators and communities have been created,” said Karen Peacock, from Tourism Excellence North. “This online resource and self-assessments have been developed so operators can complete the necessary training when it is most convenient for them and to ensure they are offering a world class snowmobile experience.”

Four educational and entertaining training videos, each developed for a specific operator type, have been created. After viewing the applicable video, operators complete the accompanying self-assessment form, which will determine their level of snowmobile market readiness.

“Snowmobile tourism is big business. It provides $853 million in direct expenditures, by 105,000 OFSC permit holders, resulting in 6,436 jobs”

“Snowmobile tourism is big business. It provides $853 million in direct expenditures, by 105,000 OFSC permit holders, resulting in 6,436 jobs,” said Peacock. “These videos have been created to help tourism-related businesses and communities understand the importance of the snowmobile industry in Northeastern Ontario and help operators create high quality snowmobile experiences, all while increasing their bottom line.”

There is no cost to this online training. It is intended for businesses in Northern Ontario that offer a product or service specifically for the snowmobile visitor; from french fries, to fuel, to balaclavas, to feather pillows, to anything that makes a rider’s stay memorable.

“Snowmobiling has been an asset to my hotels in the winter,” said Sean Mackey, Owner of the Holiday Inn Express in Temiskaming Shores. “These operator training videos have given me the tips and tools needed to provide sledders with the best possible experience”.

To get started on the training and self-assessment process, operators can visit: Tourism Excellence North.
